San Agustinillo...

Where oh where have we been?? Floating on waves, playing in the sand, bumping around on buses here and there. From Mexico City we made our way to Oaxaca City. Lonnie nearly lost his wallet, we saw the most amazing circus from South America, ate amazing food (including grasshoppers), and soaked up the culture. After about three days we were reluctant to leave but our friend Seabastian was turning 25 in Puerto Escondido on the Pacific Coast. So we packed up and wound or way along the coast to meet up with the extended Nevada City crew.  Sense then we have been traveling as a group of nine.

After a couple of days in Puerto, living the luxurious life, we found our way to one of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen. San Augustinillo is a little village on the Pacific Coast, south of Puerto Escondido. We found a beautiful place to stay right on the beach, complete with princess beds and private beach!! Not bad for $15 a night. Our days pretty much consisted of playing in the waves, soaking up rays, and day tripping here and there. We went on a boat ride in and saw dolphins and tons of turtles. That part of the coast was one of the main turtle hunting areas killing 50,000 turtles a year, up until 1990. Now there is a turtle sanctuary and the ocean is full of turtles.

We spent about a week on the beach and decided it was back to Oaxaca City to see off some friends and celebrate Sara’s big 23rd birthday. So last night we loaded onto a night bus over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, it was freezing, so uncomfortable, and we ended up somehow making it to Oaxaca at 4:30am. Quite a night to say the least!!

So we have landed once again amazed how magical, colorful and full of life this little city is.  Best wishes to everyone and much Love!!!

Mexico the City...

So many colors, so many smells, so many people, and oh so much smog!! Mexico City has surpassed our expectations in every way so far. The first thing we noticed as we descended into the city is how bright and colorful the houses and buildings are, pink, green, purple, orange... everywhere you look more color seems to be jumping to life. In comparison to LA, Mexico City is like a big bowl of fruit next to a dry piece of bread.
Getting from place to place has been a breeze. The metro is easy to navigate, the taxis' are cheep, and everyone has been more than helpful. The hostel we are staying at is great, run by a gay couple who act like they are everyone's favorite uncles. The rooms are cozy and quite, everything we could ask for after a long day of travel.

Today was full of walking, history lessons, and generally gaining our bearings. We started our day at the Museum of Anthropology which you could literally spend years exploring, beefed up on our mexican history and got inspired to explore some ruins. From there we walked for miles exploring the city until our calves were aching. We found a small restaurant, sat outside and enjoyed a delicious meal and a bottle of wine to finish off our day. Not a bad way to start a new adventure!

Keep posted to see pictures, movies, and many stories. Love to you all!!!!
